People are funny looking

Sometimes I look at people's faces and I think how strange they look. Not them as individuals but as a species. We humans are programmed to think other humans look good. Many science fiction writers show this fact at some point by having the non-human creature comment on how ugly humans are. Beauty is indeed in the eye of the beholder. Stop for a moment and study someone's ear. Ears are strange and goofy looking. All those weird ridges and curving doodads with the hangy lobe thing and the hole in the middle, not to mention that they stick out of our heads, way out with some people. And then there's the rest of the face, the eyebrows, the hair on top. What's up with that? And what about the nose and the mouth – it's all scary stuff. I have no doubt we would be as ugly as hell to other species.
